Mealworm Life Stages

Mealworms have 4 life stages: Egg, Larvae, Pupae, and Beetle.

Mealworm Eggs hatch in about 1 week.

Mealworm Larva take 2 - 3 weeks to pupate under proper conditions.

Mealworm Pupa become beetles about 7 - 10 days later.

Mealworm Beetles (Darkling Beetles) will start laying eggs within 1 or 2 weeks at 75 - 80 degrees. When they emerge from pupa, they are white, and turn brown, then black within 24 hours. Mealworm beetles will continue to breed for 4 months. The females will lay up to 500 eggs in her lifetime.
